Volvo has made it a point to price its electric vehicles affordably. The all-new subcompact EX30 has a starting MSRP of $36,245, which is surprisingly inexpensive for an all-electric luxury SUV. Now, Volvo has announced pricing for the large EX90 and it too will undercut its competitors with a starting price tag of $77,990 (including the $1,295 destination fee).

Originally, Volvo promised that the EX90 would start below $80,000 and the automaker has kept its promise. Additionally, with Volvo being built in Ridgeville, South Carolina, the SUV will be eligible for some portion of the federal tax credit since it comes in under the $80,000 cap.

Volvo will offer the EX90 in two configurations, which include Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance. The SUV is then further broken down by two trim levels, Plus and Ultra. Both come standard with seating for up to seven, while second-row captain’s chairs that bring seating for up to six is available for $500.

The EX90’s $77,990 starting price tag is for a Twin Motor Plus trim with seven seats. Stepping up to the Twin Motor Ultra trim brings pricing up to $82,340. The EX90 Twin Motor Performance raises the price of the EX90 up to $82,990 for a Plus trim with seven seats and $87,340 for an Ultra trim with seven seats.

At the moment, the EX90 Twin Motor Performance Ultra trim with six seats is the priciest model available. It starts at $86,545, but when you add the available 22-inch wheels and Bowers & Wilkins audio system, the SUV’s price tag rises to $91,840. That makes the priciest EX90 $13,850 more than the cheapest model. While that’s pricey, some of the EX90’s competitors can easily surpass six figures.

Compared to competitors in the large electric SUV segment, the EX90 is one of the more affordable options. It’s priced below the Rivian R1S ($79,800), BMW iX ($88,095), Tesla Model X ($81,380), and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV ($79,050). The upcoming Lucid Gravity is set to arrive with a starting price tag below $80,000.

All 2025 EX90 models come with dual electric motors with all-wheel drive. The base Twin Motor configuration has 402 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, while the available Twin Motor Performance version offers up to 496 hp and 671 lb-ft of torque. Both come with a standard 111-kWh battery pack that Volvo claims will bring up to 300 miles of range. The EX90 Plus comes standard with a nine-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, quad-zone automatic climate control, a Bose 14-speaker audio system, heated front and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, a panoramic moonroof, and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Production of the 2025 Volvo EX90 is set to begin in the first half of 2024. Deliveries of the electric SUV should begin shortly after. Volvo has a reservation site where shoppers can put down a refundable deposit of $500 to reserve a model.
