When we learned that the new 2025 Mazda CX-70 cost less than the three-row CX-90, we were left scratching our heads. A $2,600 price difference between the two nearly identical midsize SUVs was confusing, especially since the CX-90 has an extra row of seats. Well, it turns out that Mazda had adjusted the CX-90’s pricing, lowering it by as much as $4,000.

Pricing for the Mazda CX-90 Turbo Select starts at $37,845 (prices don’t include destination), which represents a price cut of $1,750. The CX-90 Turbo Preferred, Preferred Plus, and Premium trims all get a $3,000 price cut. Pricing for the Preferred starts at $40,445, the Preferred Plus costs $42,900, and the Premium is priced at $45,900. The Turbo Premium Plus, which is the most expensive trim for the regular CX-90 Turbo costs $48,900.

The more powerful CX-90 Turbo S trims get an even larger price change. The base Turbo S now starts at $49,850, which makes it $1,900 less than before. The Turbo S Premium and Turbo S Premium Plus have both gone down by $4,000. The former starts at $52,450 and the latter is priced at $55,950.

We reached out to Mazda and received a response from Justin Pagtalunan:

“Effective 2/21/24, MNAO is enhancing the value on all 2024 CX-90 Turbo and Turbo S models,” said Pagtalunan. “This move comes on the heels of strong interest and sales since the CX-90's launch. We're confident this adjustment will further increase attainability of preferred features for customers seeking sophisticated design, flexible utility, and intuitive performance in an award-winning mid-size SUV."

According to Pagtalunan, Mazda changed the price of the CX-90 to make the three-row SUV a better value option in the segment. “As we evaluate the current market, customers are seeking more value across the mid-size SUV segment,” said Pagtalunan.

We should point out that Mazda’s latest price cuts for the CX-90 come after Jeep adjusted pricing for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee now starts at $38,035, which makes it $190 more than the CX-90 for any shoppers who are comparing the two SUVs to one another.

We get where Mazda is coming from to make the CX-90 more competitive in the midsize landscape. With a starting price tag of $37,845, the CX-90 costs less than the Volkswagen Atlas ($37,995) and the Jeep Grand Cherokee ($38,035). The CX-90 still costs more than the Subaru Ascent ($34,395), Nissan Pathfinder ($36,080), Honda Pilot ($37,090), Hyundai Palisade ($36,650), and Kia Telluride ($36,190).
