The first all-electric SUV from Honda has finally arrived with the 2024 Prologue. Built in partnership with General Motors, the Prologue arrives in three trims that range from $48,795 (prices include destination) up to $59,295. The maximum amount of range the Prologue has is up to 296 miles.

Honda will offer the Prologue in EX, Touring, and Elite trims. The EX and Touring will be available in Single-Motor (front-wheel drive) and Dual-Motor (all-wheel drive) configurations. Single-Motor SUVs are rated at 212 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. Dual-Motor Prologue SUVs have two electric motors with up to 288 hp and 333 lb-ft of torque.

The base $48,795 Prologue is the EX trim with the single motor. The Single-Motor Touring trim costs $53,095. Getting the Dual-Motor configuration with either the EX or Touring is an extra $3,000. The range-topping Elite is only available with two electric motors and costs $59,295.

All Prologues come with an 85-kWh battery pack that brings up to 296 miles of range with the single-motor configuration. The EX and Touring Dual Motor models can travel up to 281 miles. The range-topping Elite trim has the lowest range of any Prologue, being able to travel 273 miles. Honda claims the Prologue will be able to charge at up to 150 kW when plugged into a DC fast charger, which will bring 65 miles of range in roughly 10 minutes.

At the moment, Honda has confirmed that the Prologue will come with standard Google built-in wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, heated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, satellite radio, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The Prologue arrives to complete in the hot compact electric SUV class. With a price tag of $48,795, the Prologue is one of the more expensive models in the segment. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 ($42,985), Kia EV6 ($43,975), Ford Mustang Mach-E ($45,390), Nissan Ariya ($44,555), Volkswagen ID.4 ($40,290), Toyota bZ4X ($44,420), and Subaru Solterra ($46,220) are all cheaper than the Prologue.

While the 2024 Honda Prologue is pricier than most of its rivals, it has more range than its competitors. The entry-level versions of the IONIQ 5 (220 miles), EV6 (232 miles), Mustang Mach-E (250 miles), Ariya (216 miles), ID.4 (209 miles), bZ4X (252 miles), and Solterra (227 miles) don’t have as much range as the base Prologue.

Honda will offer the Prologue EV with charging credits with EVgo that range from $100 to $750. Electrify America is also offering first-time Honda EV owners with 60 kWh of complimentary public charging. With Honda using GM’s Ultium powertrain for the Prologue, we expect the electric SUV to be eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit, which would make the Prologue more competitive against rivals.
